Knowledge Management And Communication Specialist (Code: 062 – KMCS – Finance Inclusion for Women Entrepreneurs)

General Position Summary

Knowledge Management and Communication Specialist will support Program Manager to reach 40,000 women-led or women-owned micro and small businesses are reached within 24 months of program implementation. This includes 32,000 adult women (including women over 50 years old) and 8,000 young women aged 18–30 years old. Participants will receive training and mentoring through a hybrid model covering financial literacy, financial management, digital literacy (using the GSMA MISTT framework), cybersecurity, access to MicroMentor, and digital marketing. Through these interventions, the program aims to improve participants’ access to formal financial products and services, including digital financial services and loans. The outcomes and impact will be measured through beneficiary surveys, with the following targets: (1) 75% of 40,000 women reported an improvement in knowledge on financial literacy & services, business development & digitalization, (2) 60% of 40,000 women reported an improvement in access to digital marketing channels to support their business, (3) 60% of 40,000 women reported an improvement in access to financial products/services, (4) 70% of 24,000 women who have access to financial products/services reported to have used it actively (at least once a month), and (5) 30% of 40,000 women reported an improvement in financial health (increased sales).

S/he will collaborate with city governments, the National Financial Inclusion Council (SNKI), the Financial Services Authority (OJK) at national and regional levels, financial service providers, local universities or research institutes, community business organizations, and women entrepreneurs’ associations to foster alignment, share learnings, strengthen policy engagement and coordination among key stakeholders. S/he will also lead learning events to promote evidence-based policy dialogue, and will document and disseminate program results through stories, visuals, and reports shared via social media and YouTube channels, highlighting the program’s impact on micro and small enterprises’ (MSEs) financial health and resilience. S/he will also lead the design and planning of volunteer events with the donor team.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Support Program Manager to reach 40,000 women-led or women-owned micro and small businesses are reached within 24 months of program implementation. This includes 32,000 adult women (including women over 50 years old) and 8,000 young women aged 18–30 years old.

  • Develop an annual communication strategy and activities in consultation with the Donor (Corporate Communication and Foundation team).

  • Develop volunteer engagement design and event plans in consultation with the donor (Corporate Communication and Foundation team).

  • Develop a standard presentation deck for the program in consultation with the donor (Corporate Communication and Foundation team) and the Mercy Corps Indonesia design team.

  • Ensure program will establish Learning Event and to be presented to the National Financial Inclusion Strategy and by Indonesia Financial Service Authority on effective strategy to target women-led MSEs.

  • Develop Report on learning events and volunteer events.

  • Ensure program will conduct at least 2 learning events to inform policy and public.

  • Support Program Manager to prepare bi-weekly report on project progress, challenges, and recommendations.

  • Support Program Manager to prepare Quarterly M&E Impact Report (every three months), Interim report (every six months), and Final Monitoring and Evaluation Report based on donor and Mission Measurement templates.

  • Ensure that data, photos, and participant stories needed for program learning, communication, and reporting are available.

  • Maintain close regular contact with donor (Corporate Communication and Foundation team), the local government agencies, key partners, and local community partners to ensure quality outputs/services and trouble shoot any administrative problems.

  • Attend coordination meetings and maintain regular contact with relevant stakeholders.

SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively learns about safeguarding and integrates it into their work, including safeguarding risks and mitigations related to their area of work.

  • Practices the values of Mercy Corps including respecting the dignity and well-being of participants and fellow team members.

  • Encourages openness and communication in their team; encourages team members to submit reports if they have any concerns using reporting mechanisms e.g., Integrity Hotline and other options.

Knowledge and Experience 

  • University degree in Communication, Social Studies, Economic, Business, or other relevant field.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working as Knowledge Management and Communication.

  • Have experience in developing communication strategies, activities, and volunteer events for corporate and foundation donors.

  • Strong knowledge of social media and digital campaign tools, with the ability to develop a standard presentation deck for the program.

  • Have experience in developing, implementing, and monitoring digital campaign strategies and social media activities for large-scale programs with more than 40,000 participants’ data.

  • Have experience to design knowledge-sharing events with the national and local government agencies, financial service providers, MEs communities, CBOs, research institutes/thin thank, business associations, particularly for women would be an advantage.

  • Able to write and understandable spoken English are preferred.

  • Experience in supervising staff and understanding the need for regular support and follow-up to ensure that project objectives are being met.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify issues, propose practical solutions, and communicate them clearly in both written and verbal form.

  • Proven ability to manage tasks independently while maintaining effective collaboration with a diverse team.
