Training and Mentoring Officer (TMO) - Women’s Empowerment in Communities in Indonesia

General Position Summary

Training and Mentoring Program Officer will support the Program Coordinator design the training, mentoring framework & tools for the program and provide technical supervision of the training and mentoring activities to ensure that at least 1,800 female coffee farmers and coffee farmers’ wives and 200 young women gaining access to business and financial literacy and 1,000 of them received mentorships and engage with 250 volunteers’ mentors under MicroMentor Indonesia platform. In addition, S/he will support the program coordinator to adopt information, education, and communication materials on COVID-19 prevention and accurate vaccine information, healthy living community movement (GERMAS), and  stunting prevention developed by Mercy Corps Indonesia and other official and tested references (e.g. KPCPEN, Satgas Perubahan Perilaku, Ministry of Health, and Ministry of Village and Remote Area Development) and as needed help tailor the materials to suit the context of local communities to ensure 1,800 participants will be improved access to health services and 600 participants will be improved access to WASH facilities.

The position is based in Bandung Raya and requires up to 50 % travel to program locations (depend on COVID-19 development).

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Support the Program Coordinator to ensure the program will have 1,800 female coffee farmers and coffee farmers’ wives and 200 young women completed business and financial literacy training;
  • Support the Program Coordinator to ensure the program will have 1,000 female coffee farmers, coffee farmers’ wives, and young women received mentorships and engage with 250 volunteers’ mentors under MicroMentor Indonesia platform.
  • Support the Program Coordinator to ensure 800 participants gaining access to financial services and 400 participants to other resources, 1,800 participants will be improved access to health services, 600 participants increased access to safe drinking water, 600 participants increased access to sanitation, 600 households with new or improved infrastructure.
  • Develop criteria to identify the program participants who will participate in financial literacy and business literacy trainings and mentoring.
  • Based needs assessment, develop training and mentoring workplan to improve female coffee farmers, coffee farmers’ wives, and young women access to financial services and business development services from formal financial institutions and other resources.
  • Based on needs assessment and technical WASH assessment, develop training plan to improve female coffee farmers, coffee farmers’ wives, and young women access hygiene and sanitation infrastructure and supplies;
  • Facilitate identification of existing good practices, gaps, and challenges (knowledge, supply, and infrastructure) toward healthy live particularly on hygiene and sanitation practices, COVID-19 prevention and vaccination, and stunting prevention with local authorities, community leaders, and champions;
  • Develop monthly workplan and target and provide monthly progress against the target and workplan;
  • Support Program Coordintor to prepare the consultant SoWs needed to reach the program key success metrics;
  • Support Program Coordinator to develop partnership agreements with government and private agencies based on needs assessment results to provide female coffee farmers, coffee farmers’ wives, and young women access to financial and business literacy, financial services and business development services, and WASH services;
  • Ensure the data needed for program monitoring, evaluation, learning and report are available;
  • Attend coordination meetings and maintain regular contact with relevant stakeholder.
  • Conduct travel to project locations to monitor quality of implementation, and adjust plans and approaches to meet the project objective;
  • Support Program Manager to prepare final report.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Economic, Business, Social Studies, Public Health, or related fields
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working with NGOs and Local Government Agencies in Emergency, Recovery and Livelihood Programs
  • 3+ years’ experience working as a training and mentoring officer in development programs. Experience in design and implementing the training and mentoring on financial and business/entrepreneurship for women businesses would be an advantage
  • Experience in design and implementing the training and mentoring on WASH, stunting prevention, and COVID-19 prevention and accurate vaccine information would be an advantage
  • Have knowledge on women businesses, community business organizations, formal financial institutions who is leveraging financial services to women businesses would be an advantage
  • Experience in deliver capacity building with the formal financial institutions and business development services’ providers would be an advantage
  • Understanding of working together with local partners and local government agencies
  • Good problem solving and written and oral communication skills
  • Good knowledge of MS Office software such as Excel, Word, and Access
  • Able to write and understandable spoken English are preferred
